Hip, Knee, Ankle

When people present with a singular joint pain, such as hip, knee or ankle, we will look at that joint, but we will look at that joint in the context of the rest of your limb and how your body works. A sprained ankle sustained in a sports is very easy to look at whilst other issues are more complex and require an overall understanding of where imbalance and restriction may lie. At Spinex, this is the area where we work primarily.

Common lower limb problems we help

  • Sprained ankle, achilles tendon, plantar fascitis
  • Sacro-iliac joint pain
  • Post-pregnancy hip pain
  • Knee pain and running injuries
  • Hip flexor restriction

When it comes to joint pain and injuries, our goal is to remove the restriction, free the movement and help you build up strength and range of motion.  Once we achieve that and you can move better, we typically see improvements and ultimately restoration of function.

The team are all highly experienced.  As well as treating back pain and disc issues which are often the end result of some other problems in the body, we look at individual joints within the overall structure of the body.

If you have pain or restricted movement, we are here to help.

Knee Injury

The knee joint can develop pain for many different reasons. Most impact injuries which result in ligament and tendon tears occur during sports or falls.  Knee issues with no obvious onset can be a result of a build up of tension in muscles across the joint, increasing the pressure on the joint.
To discover why, our team will assess not only the joint of concern but the surrounding joints too, for example the hips, pelvis and ankle, as they may be the cause.

Hip Pain (and pelvis)

Like the knees, if a direct impact has not caused the problem then imbalances and asymmetries elsewhere in the body can be the reason for the discomfort.  Assessing various areas of the body is necessary to enable us to find the cause of the problem. There are a lot of muscles around the hips so any factor of your lifestyle, from sitting at a desk to the weekend run, could cause issues to occur.

Ankle Injury

We are on our feet a lot so having an ankle problem can be quite debilitating.  Ankle issues can occur seemingly spontaneously, possibly as a result of the way you have been walking for years, the type of shoes you wear or previous problems with knees or hips.  Checking these ares can help uncover the underlying cause.
